Gifted & Talented
Every child is gifted and talented in their own unique way.
Gifted and Talented is the term applied to those children who are achieving, or have the potential to achieve, at a level substantially beyond their peer group. At the BESA we use the term ‘Gifted’ to mean those pupils who are capable of excelling in academic subjects such as English, Mathematics or Science and ‘Talented’ refers to those pupils who excel in the arts, design, PE or in a social context.
At the BESA we believe it is important that no single method be employed to identify Gifted & Talented pupils. We will endeavour to base identification on a portfolio approach, utilising the widest range of evidence. Identification should also be a continuous & open process with regular communication between parents, children and teachers.
