Teaching Staff

Our school is keen to employ excellent teachers who have a clear wish to work overseas. Vacancies are advertised in the Times Educational Supplement, usually in January, and are also placed on this website. BESA is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All teaching posts at BESA are subject to a full DBS check.

The teachers sought to work at BESA are not only fully-qualified and experienced but also have the qualities necessary to fit in to a high-performing international school. These would include independence, resilience, enthusiasm, adaptability and a sense of humour. As our school follows the English National Curriculum, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) both training and experience of working within these systems would be beneficial.

In return teachers are offered a salary based on the UK pay scale, free accommodation with most services, free child places in school and private medical care.

Professional development is a strength of BESA, where everyone is considered a learner. As a result of this career progression opportunities are excellent, with teachers in recent years having moved on to more senior positions in UK state and independent schools as well as other Turkish and international schools.

There are over 60 staff members employed at BESA of which 22 are teachers, all of whom are fully qualified to UK standards.  A full staff list with qualifications can be obtained from the school office.
