Middle Years Curriculum Overview

Welcome to the Middle Years. The move to Secondary Education from the Primary School is an exciting one. Students are taught a range of subjects and will come into contact with several specialist teachers. Students will have lots of help in settling into a new routine.  Year 6 continue with the IPC for two terms before transitioning to the IMYC.

The school day is from 8.40am to 4pm. There are six periods every day, each lasting 55 minutes, although a number of these will be double periods. There is registration period at the start of everyday lasting 20 minutes and Form Time at the end of the day.

The Middle Years curriculum offers a broad and balanced education, building on the programme laid down in Milepost 3 of BESA. Our subjects and themes are based on the IMYC (International Middle Years Curriculum) and elements of the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Our programmes of study take into account the rich diversity of nationalities in our student body. There is also an emphasis on International Mindedness and Personal Goals.
